West Coast Adventure: Kennedy River

We stopped along the side of the road for a pee, and discovered this unmarked but amazing viewpoint over the Kennedy River Canyon. The many spectacular views were worth a long visit, and many photos.

This place seemed to be all about flow: water, wind, rocks... even needles.

  1. In the photo of your child behind the fern, that fern looks a lot like dlaamaal, or licorice fern. Are you guys familiar with it and its sweet rhizomes? If not, it's worth a further look. It's delicious and fun to eat on a walk. I also use it to sweeten pancakes and tea. (Might not be that particular fern, but it sure looks like it, and it grows here in SE Alaska, so I'd assume it's down that way as well.)
